Purpose and activity

The purpose of the association is to promote, teach and spread music in the village of Barx. To that end it runs three projects: the music band, the youth band and the Music School. Details of our activity are on the Activities page and dates on the Events calendar.

Governance and structure

The sovereign body of the association is the general assembly of members, which elects the Board of Directors responsible for day-to-day management. The current composition of the Board, with each post and the person holding it, is published on the Board of Directors page. Artistic direction of the band and the school lies with the principal conductor; the teaching staff is listed under Teachers.

Remuneration

Positions on the Board of Directors are unpaid. Those who hold them carry out their duties on a voluntary basis and receive no payment for doing so, nor any severance compensation.

Remuneration is paid to those who provide professional services to the association: the teaching staff of the Music School and the conductors of the band and the school, in accordance with employment law and the resolutions of the general assembly. The amounts are recorded in the association’s annual accounts.

Applicable regulations

  • The association’s statutes and the resolutions of its general assembly.
  • Organic Act 1/2002 on the right of association.

Funding

Our activity is funded by members’ fees, the collaboration agreement with Barx Town Council and the public grants the association receives. Details of those grants are in the Public grants and subsidies section.

The statutes, annual activity reports and annual accounts are approved by the general assembly and are available to anyone who requests them. Write to sumsantaceciliabarx@gmail.com stating which documents you need.
