Music School of the Societat Unió Musical Santa Cecília de Barx

The Music School is the training ground of the Societat Unió Musical Santa Cecília de Barx. Children, young people and adults learn music and play an instrument here and, if they wish, go on to join the society’s ensembles, such as the Banda Jove (youth band).

Teaching combines practical, theoretical and instrumental training, both individual and in groups, so that every student can develop their creative skills and artistic sensitivity at their own pace, with no previous knowledge required.

What we teach

  • FASOLET (ages 4 to 7): early musical training using the IEM method, in groups, focused on creativity and aural development.
  • Music theory (from age 8): solfège levels one to four, harmony and analysis, and preparation for the entrance examination to professional music education.
  • Instrument (from age 7): one-to-one lessons in saxophone (alto, tenor and baritone), woodwind (flute and clarinet) and brass (French horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium and tuba).

Timetables, ages and fees for each course are listed on the Courses page, term dates on the School Calendar and our teaching staff on Teachers.
